Hoping for perfect skin in time for your wedding?
We have put together this timeline of beauty tips, finishing on the morning of you wedding. We have spoken to leading beauty experts in the south of England and asked them their top tips for great skin. This is what they had to say.
First steps
The sooner you begin your skin preparations, the more time you’ll have to enjoy the fruits of your labour and the more time you’ll have to spend doing last minute wedding preparations.
So begin getting into the habit of drinking at least 2 litres of water per day. If you find water boring, try sugar-free squash, green tea, rooibos tea, chai or some other herbal mix. Try to keep it as natural as possible and drink throughout the day rather than in big hits.
Also cut out junk and processed food. This is going to be harder for some than others but the results will speak for themselves. Get used to having at least some of your five a day every day. Carrots are especially good at cleansing skin. Leading beauty experts suggest eating carrots everyday makes your skin glow. Get used to eating them!
Get outside. A little exposure to the sun is healthy as long as you do it responsibly. While you’re out there, go for a walk or a run to get your blood flowing. Exercise is an effective way to tone up, slim down and keep your skin looking radiant. Shower immediately afterwards to clean sweat and toxins from your skin for best results.
If you fancy a skin peel or want to try any new skin products now is the time. The earlier you experiment, the more time you have to recover if anything goes wrong. The skin sometimes has to adjust to new products, so if you want to try something new, do it now rather than the week before your wedding!
Two weeks before your wedding
If you want a wax, do it at least two weeks before your big day. your skin will have time to recover in plenty of time. If anything does go wrong, there is time to heal before the wedding day.
Now is also the time to really clean up your act. Cut out or cut down your alcohol intake! improve your diet further if you can, or improve it as above if you couldn’t face doing it before now. Keep up with the water intake too.
Two weeks before is also a good time to have a dry run of your hair and makeup. You will have plenty of time to get used to new products, to experiment with new looks and generally have a little fun with your appearance. A dry run will also help your makeup artist on the day as she will already know what works and what doesn’t.
A week before your wedding
Keep up the exercise, keep hydrated, cut out junk food, increase your real food intake, avoid alcohol as much as possible and get a little sunshine. Your skin should be glowing, healthy and looking fantastic right now and you want to keep it that way.
Now is not the time to try new creams, makeup or hair products. Stick to what you know and don’t take any risks.
The day before your wedding
Nothing new to see here. Get everything ready for the next day, keep avoiding any new products, don’t eat any new food, drink as much water as possible and sleep as much as you possibly can!!!
The morning of your wedding
Now is the time to sit back, relax and let your makeup artists work their magic.
Keep sipping water, have something to eat and most importantly enjoy your day. You’ve earned it.
