Fay and Richard married in the outside gazebo at Warwick House on 13th August 2014 surrounded by their family and friends.
We are extremely grateful that the happy couple have shared their beautiful photos with us and we took the opportunity to ask Fay about their special day.
Where did you get engaged and how long had you been together beforehand?
Richard and I had been together for 4 years before getting engaged on my birthday in December last year.
How many venues did you visit before you chose Warwick House as your wedding venue?
Warwick House was the first and only venue we viewed. We completely fell in love with the intimate and romantic setting.
How did you feel when you first visited Warwick House, did you know straight away that you wanted to get married here?
As soon as we arrived at the venue, we had goosebumps and could just visualise how perfect the day would be.
What was the first step of your wedding planning?
The venue was our first step and everything else fell into place around it.
How many months/years in advance did you book your special day?
6 weeks!!!!!
Would you recommend booking a last-minute wedding?
We would totally recommend a last-minute wedding. The team at Warwick House are so experienced and efficient, they really held our hands every step of the way. There are so many benefits to last-minute weddings… it is easier to stick to your budget as you don’t have months and months to look through wedding magazines or visit shows etc and there is no time to get anxious – before you know it the day is here!
What was the hardest thing about planning your wedding day?
The table plan was my nightmare as I’m sure it is for most brides. Who to sit with who? Who will get on with who?
Did you have a colour scheme or theme?
I didn’t have a specific colour theme in mind, but I did love our vintage theme. We incorporated vintage teacups in memory of my grandma, dedicated a chocolate and sweet table to my granddad and dedicated my walking in song to my other granddad (Etta James – At last). There were lots of personal touches that made our day special that looked lovely and meant a lot but not all of the guests would have known the sentimentality but discreet tributes were what we wanted.
What were the highlights of your day?
There were so many highlights but having the ceremony outside was very special. I’ll never forget walking down those grand stairs feeling like a princess going to marry my prince
Were there any funny moments on the day?
We laughed so much through the day. Our 18-month-old little boy had been so excited to wait for Mummy to walk down the aisle and within 5 minutes he was fast asleep.
Now you have ‘been there, done that’ in hindsight is there anything you would have done differently?
We wouldn’t change a thing other than don’t spend all day worrying about your guests (like we did) just take it all in and enjoy the day as it is over before you know it.
Do you have any advice for any Brides and Grooms that are just starting their wedding plans?
Be as organised as possible. We had a wedding folder which all quotes and contracts were kept together. We had a mood board type page where we saved ideas that we liked. Personally, my lifesaver was making lists. I had a list of things to buy, things to do , questions to ask etc etc. Lists help you sleep at night or you can guarantee as soon as you lie down and close your eyes everything whirls around in your mind.
