I’ve known Nicky for a while and she’s a pretty kooky gal. When she and James told me that their wedding was just about everyone having fun on the day I was really excited to see what they had planned. I wasn’t disappointed!

Their wedding was in early April and just days before it had been snowing, luckily on the day it was bright and clear, even if a little chilly and certainly very windy.

The venue for Nicky and James’ day was Warwick House in Southam, a beautiful Regency house full of splendour with a sweeping staircase and chandeliers. The chosen table centre pieces were teapots full of sweet smelling hyacinths, reminiscent of the mad hatters tea party, and the place cards were miniature canvas’ complete with colouring pencils – for the big kid in all the guests! The wedding cake was made by Nicky’s Mum – it had penguins on top, when I asked why, they both said ‘why not?’ – and James’s Mum made the cupcakes all around.

I met up with a very calm and laid back Nicky and her bridesmaids as they were getting ready, and I saw all the quirky details of her wedding coming together – the short polka dot bridesmaids dresses, the bright shoes and the cute necklaces she had given them. Nicky looked like a vintage pin up in a short dress created by her very talented Mum, with vintage makeup done by her friend Harriet and her bouquet which was actually a collection of brooches made of gift from family and her girlfriends who went to her hen night, this was also made by her bridesmaid. A very creative bunch all round! Oh and those shoes!!!

As well as all the quirks and fun, there were traditional elements too – the speeches had everyone in giggles, the little bridesmaid stole the show throughout the day and all the guests enjoying themselves. Amid all the laughing and happiness, there were plenty of tender moments too where it is clear that Nicky and James are so happy together.

This was a wonderfully eclectic day, and Nicky and James’ dream of everyone having fun and enjoying themselves came true.
